News from 3 April: New exhibition: John Noble – New York in stone and salt water
Get to know lithographs by artist John Alexander Noble (1913-1983) that depicted life at sea and harbor life in New York City. With great love and detail, he captured the last working days of the thousands of schooners that transported goods to and from the metropolis, before they were placed on the scrap heap of history.

Did you know that close to 80 shipwrecks have been found in Oslo? With the urban renewal, a whole series of excavations have been carried out in Oslo, all the way from the Opera project and up to today's projects in Bispevika and Bjørvika.

Regular Exhibitions
By sea!
- The exhibition showcases our open traditional boat collection and archaeological wrecks and findings from Oslo in the 1500s and 1600s. The exhibition is located in the Boat Hall, the iconic building of the Norwegian Maritime Museum from 1958.
Viking Age boat builder
- The Norwegian Maritime Museum exhibits one of the Viking boats from the Gokstad find! At KLINK båtbyggeri we build a replica of the boat. The Viking boat is exhibited in collaboration with the Museum of Cultural History, while the Viking Ship Museum is closed.
At sea! Seafarers' lives through a thousand years
- At sea! is an exhibition about people at sea, from the Viking Age to the present day. Experience people's lives and everyday lives seen from places such as the stern castle and poop, fireplace and galley, rig and engine room. Through them, you get to know Norwegian and international shipping.
On schedule
- For generations, the sea has linked the different parts of Norway together. The exhibition deals with how traffic and traffic have changed from the time of steamboats to the present day.
The Gram Collection: Sea Pieces
- Sea seen through the eyes of Norwegian artists: "Sea Pieces" is a painting exhibition about Norwegian shipping and coastal culture.

- In the exhibition "Explore the ocean," you encounter myths, monsters, and heroes of the sea. The stories about the sea are exciting and diverse. We want you to fall in love with the ocean!
Traveling with the Chief and Sally Jones
- Join in and play! Walk along the harbor, muster on the ship Queen of Congo and sail on the seven seas.
