Havet starter her Bymiljøetaten Oslo kommune
What ends up on the ground ends up in the sea
The Agency for Urban Environment has installed 30 new manhole covers along the waterfront, each with a unique design created by pupils from Bøler, Lilleborg, Løren, Nordpolen, Tonsenhagen and Tøyen schools.
The manhole covers are a reminder that litter dropped on the ground can end up in the Oslofjord through rain, wind and surface water runoff — where plastic and other waste can break down into microplastics and harm life in the fjord.
This summer at the Norwegian Maritime Museum you can see all 629 drawings submitted to the competition to decorate the manhole covers.
