From the exhibition "At sea!" you can enjoy the view over the Oslo Fjord at your own pace. From this point i the museum you can see lighthouses marking the fairway to Oslo, cruise traffic, ferrys, cargoships and sailboats passing by.
See the ocean throug the eyes of Norwegian artists! The Gram- collection shows you beautiful art gems from Norwegian coastal life, made by famous artists like Axel Revold, Hans Gude and Christian Krohg.
In the Maritime Museum you can see Norway's oldest boat, the Dugout canoe. It is estimated to be about 2200 years old, twice the age as the Viking ships! Experience it on the U deck in our exhibition "The Ship".
Are you short on time, but still want to see it all? Join our Speed Tour and see some of the museum's highlights. The tour runs in english and is included in your museum ticket. Hours: Tuesday, Wedensday and Thursday at 11:00 and 13:00, July and August.
The artist Alyona Storm exhibits illustrations in the museum cafè. Inspired by Oslo's districts, islands and harbours, she shows Oslo as a city by the Fjord. The illustrations can be purchased in the museum shop "FOB".
Join us for a green excursion on this reconstructed renaissance boat! Experience Oslo from the lower sea side! You will learn about the old city of Oslo, with an archeological perspective, and be given the chance to row an set sail if the wind allow it. No foregoing sailing experience is necessary to participate. Tickets are available in the visitor centre at the Maritime Museum. Price: Adult: 295NOK/ Children 150NOK/ Family (2+3) 900NOK. Duration: ca 1,5 hours included a safetyreview.
Enter the magical universe of the Chief and Sally Jones! Walk along the busy pier or have a break in "Gorilla Bar". Maybe you'd rather stay at the helm on the "Queen of Congo?" This is a place to explore and play! You will find this area on deck 3.
Try our game "Highway of the seas!" where you can sign up as a shipboker. Compete with your friends about who's better to transport cars or bulk across the sea. You find the game on Deck 3. On deck U, you find the thoug boat Southampton. You can manuvere it in our indoor boat pool! Get tokens in our visitor centre.
Enjoy a lovely meal while gazing over the Oslo Fjord! We serve Fish & Chips and cold beverages. The view is speldid and you can see all the way in to the city centre and at least see the rich boat life in the harbour. The Fjord terrace opens every day from 11:00- 17:00.
When you have arrived to Bygdøynes, you should also visit our iconic neighbour museums, the Fram and Kon-Tiki Museums. The museum tells the stories about polar heroes and exploreres going at sea. Joint tickets available in all museums.
